Scope

Aimed at supporting scientific and clinical exchanges as well as research formation among junior fellows with specific interest in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

 

Fellows’ candidacy and characteristics. 

The PI of each centre that is full member of EADC can identify appropriate fellows who should fulfill either of the following criteria:

  • Be a resident in neurology, psychiatry, geriatrics or internal medicine, having special interest in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
  • Be an MD or MS or PhD, performing research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders

The fellowship qualification period ends on January 1st of the calendar year following the board certification as a medical specialist in neurology / psychiatry / geriatric or internal medicine or following the achievement of the PhD.

Specific activities for EADC fellows, sponsored by EADC
  • Part of EADC meetings
  • During this symposium fellows are offered to present data such as a recent publication or a summary of their PhD thesis or another research topic.
  • Call is launched before each EADC meeting.
  • Fellows submit an abstract and CV to:

  • EADC Executive Board selects presentations.
  • Travel and accommodation costs are covered by EADC based on invoices.
  • Fellows are required to present physically at EADC meetings.
  • Two to four week internship.
  • Budget provided to the fellow: €2500.
  • The EADC Executive Board determines the number of fellow bursary recipients per year.
Timeline
  • After EADC spring meeting:
    Call for EADC centers that are willing to host an internship. EADC hosting centers develop and submit a program for a two-week fellow internship to the EADC Executive Board. EADC hosting centers receive 1000€ to cover costs for hosting fellows.
  • After EADC fall meeting:
    Call for fellow candidates interested for the exchange program.
  • December 31st of calendar year:
    Deadline for candidatures. Fellow candidates submit to 1) sebastiaan.Engelborghs@vub.be 2) mboada@fundacioace.org 3) bettina.gauger@outlook.de  a CV, a motivation letter and declare two EADC preferable hosting centers (1 preferred, 1 back-up).
  • January of following calendar year:
